We love our new Optoma projector! After purchasing a Playstation 3 we were looking to move up from a 720i to a 1080i projector. This projector has the following upgrades from our previous projector - 1080i, quieter fan, no pushing the auto image... (Read full review at Amazon)

The good things I have found is it has a great picture. It?s easy to install (as easy as any overhead projector) and keeps pretty quiet. When it?s working, I am happy with the HD7100. The problems I have had: I have had this product in use for abo (Read full review at CNET)

Great projector, excellent image, superb lens-shift. The price could be lower. Otherwise nothing to complain about. (Read full review at Amazon)

My decision to purchase this projector boiled down to it being the best value in its price range. At my price point of $2,000 to $3,000, I had initially decided I would purchase the Panasonic PT-AE900U; however, in the period of weeks--yes weeks!--t (Read full review at CNET)

With native 720p resolution at under $3,000, I don't think any other Darkchip3 DLP projector can match the HD7100's image quality. The four-way lens is just wonderful (!) -- providing easy installation with precision and flexibility. (Read full review at Pricegrabber)

| Pros: This projector delivers fantastic colors & color saturation, contrast, black levels, and image sharpness. I can't believe you can get it for under $3,000: I found the images to be rich and vibrant. |
| Cons: Could not really find any. |

| Best home-theater projector overall.Reviewers say that this 720p DLP front projector essentially closes the performance gap between mid-priced projectors and high-end DLP projectors costing much more. The projector uses the Texas Instruments DarkChip3 DLP chip to produce some of the most dramatic blacks available. In addition, colors are said to be very accurate right out of the box. Although you can spend more on something like the Sony 1080p VPL-VW100, critics say the Optoma projector comes much closer in performance than the $5,400 price difference would suggest. ...

| Optoma Home Theater Series HD7100 High Definition LP projector Full Description |
 |
OptomaÕs HD7100 home theater projector delivers the ultimate in 720p high-definition imaging demanded by the most discerning home theater aficionados. Featuring Texas Instruments' DarkChip DLP technology, the HD7100 creates vibrant, vivid images, rich in color and contrast. The newly developed DMD chip provides significantly improved optical efficiency and excellent contrast ratio, while the LVDS (low voltage differential signal) chip eliminates color breaking phenomena common with previous generation DLP projectors. The 250W high-output lamp gives high color purity and brightness. Natural images are possible with excellent color reproduction and powerful expression capabilities. As a result of reducing jagged edges and flickering when up-scaling edges of slanted lines, even signals not reaching a panel resolution of 480I/P can be projected by converting them to 1280 x 720 resolution images. Use of a DVI/HDCP terminal enables all processes from input to signal processing and projecting to be performed digitally. All-digital projection does not suffer the data loss of analog conversion. It includes one composite video, one S-Video, and two component video inputs in addition to one DVI and one PC input. Features Bright 1000 lumens and 5000:1 (Full on/off) contrast ratio delivers subtle details and vibrant images 4-way optical lens shift (vertical and horizontal), allows for ease and precision during projector installation Short throw lens capable of projecting 100" diagonal image from less than 10 feet Extensive improvements in jagged edges and slanted lines in moving images. New Edge Up-Scaling. 3:2 pull-down enhancement for 480I, 576I and HDTV 1080I signals. What's in the Box Projector, remote control (with batteries), power cord, composite video cable, component video cable, RS-232C cable, printed operating instructions |
